When he became seriously ill, I used to recite (These Surahs) and rub his hands over his body hoping for its blessingsĢ. Whenever Allah’s Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) become sick, he would recite Mu’awwidhat ( Surah Falaq and Surah An-Nas) and then blow over his breath over his body. A hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari mentions that: Surah Falaq is beneficial in the condition of serious illness.There are many benefits of reciting Surah Falaq daily. She said: ‘He used to recite: “Glorify the Name of your Lord the Most High,” in the first Rak’ah, ‘Say: “O disbelievers!’” in the second Rak’ah, and ‘Say: Allah is One’ in the third and the Mu’awwidhatayn (Chapter 113, 114).’” Benefits of Reciting Surah Falaq “We asked ‘Aishah (R.A.) what the Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) used to recite in Witr. It was narrated that ‘Abdul-‘Aziz bin Juraij (R.A.) said Reciting Surah Falaq in the prayers is a part of Sunnah.Reciting Surah Falaq also helps us in remembering Allah often and knowing that there is nothing that is not under His control.Hence,we should recite Surah Falaq and Surah An-Nas to fight off the evils. But how Magnificent is our Lord, He hasn’t left us astray. Whereas, the inner evil can be envy, jealousy, and pride. The external evil can be in the form of evil eye, magic, and sorcery. Surah Falaq teaches us that this world is full of problems and there is existence of all kinds of evils. When we place our trust in Allah, we also express our strength of Imaan. Surah Falaq is a great way to earn rewards and thank Allah for his bounties.Hence, when we seek refuge in the Almighty, He saves us. But we also know that even any evil cannot happen without His permission. While reciting Surah Falaq, we not only believe that Allah is the Creator of all the things. Surah Falaq also helps in consolidating one’s faith.Should I not inform you of the best refuge which the person who seeks refuge takes? They (companions) said: “Of course, O Messenger of Allah” He (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “ Surah Falaq and An-Naas.” (Al Saheena 1104) When read in day and night, it keeps all evils away. This Surah acts like an effective supplication that provides the reciter with the protection from all evils. S urah Falaq is one of the most magnificent sources of Protection from all evil.“Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Al-Falaq.’ until the end of the Surah” (Jami at-Tirmidhi 3367) Virtues of Surah Falaq “Say : I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind…” until the end of the Surah. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) said: “Allah has revealed to me Ayats the like of which has not been seen. And the reason for his (pbuh) sickness was magic that was done by the Jews to plot against him.Ī hadith mentions about Surah Falaq and Surah An- Nas collectively that: Some notations regarding its revelation states that it was revealed when prophet Muhammd (Peace Be Upon Him) was unwell. Indeed, this Surah holds great importance in our lives as it is a kind of weapon against all evil. Surah Falaq is a Meccan Surah however few scholars also believe it to be Medinan. The confirmed period of its revelation is not confirmed but agreed to be in the period 610-618 AD. Surah Falaq is the 113 th chapter (Surah) of the Holy Quran. Hence, this surah helps a reciter in attaining protection against evil such as envy. And it is also believed that jealousy and envy cast evil eyes onto others. Many people get jealous by seeing other people’s lives. The fifth verse of Surah Falaq talks about the evil of envy, jealousy, and pride. “They are among the works of Satan.” (Sunan Abi Dawood 3868)Īnd from the evil of an envier when he envies.” The messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him), was asked about seeking a cure from magic (al-nushrah). And indeed, this surah teaches us to seek refuge in Allah SWT to get protection from the magic doers and their magic. However, everything requires the permission of Allah. The fourth verse of Surah Falaq denotes the use of magic by mankind or jinns to harm other beings. The meanings of Falaq as interpreted by many scholars are: Daybreak, Dawn, or the process of splitting.
